Immune Support
Cool weather is upon us and every day we are exposed to viruses and bacteria in the air. Pretty gross right? The change of season is a great time to support and build your immune system, through chiropractic care and nutrition. The immune system is our body’s natural defense mechanism, and there are many things you can do NOW to support it as we move in to “cold and flu season”.
Chiropractic Care:
Many of our patients have asked whether they should still get adjusted if they are sick. The answer is YES! Chiropractic care boosts your immune system!
How?? Chiropractic adjustments help regulate your nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and nerves), which then regulates your immune system and inflammatory responses (1). Researchers believe that this interaction is ultimately how chiropractic care helps support your immune system. It promotes an increase in white blood cells (2), which help you fight infections, even in immunocompromised individuals (3). New research is even coming out to support chiropractic care and children’s immune systems! There are multiple case studies that have looked at chiropractic care and ear infections, tonsillitis, colds, asthma, and many other childhood illnesses (4). While research is still being done on how chiropractic can help, there is plenty of information to draw from when making a decision about chiropractic care for your (and your children’s) immune systems. Chiropractic adjustments do not treat these conditions directly; we address any spinal dysfunctions we find, and this encourages many reactions that allow your body to do what it does best. It cannot cure everything, but a little boost in your immune function is a welcome side effect to an already healthy habit. So, keep using that hand sanitizer if you like, but also get adjusted. 🙂

A blend of Andrographis*, Echinacea, and Holy Basil, Andrographis Complex helps give your immune system the boost it needs, especially when it’s under stress. Everyone has experienced the throat tickle that comes before getting sick; it’s a sign that your immune system may need a little help. The product we carry can:
- Help maintain healthy immune system function
- Support healthy respiratory system function
- Support healthy immune system response
- Encourage adaptive response to occasional everyday stress **
Herbal Throat Spray:
The throat spray we carry uses a combination of herbs including Echinacea, sage, and marshmallow root to soothe a sore throat, and support healthy immune function. You’ll find it most helpful when you’re feeling run down or if you’ve been speaking a lot. It can also be used during the winder, in the dry Colorado air. **
